Real-time German · for caregivers in Germany

A German translator for caregivers.

You already speak German well. But "Hüfte" is one thing, and "Schenkelhalsfraktur" is another. Kaya is the real-time translator that understands the medical words your patients actually use — the whispered ones, the dialect ones, the ones nobody taught you.

How it works on your shift

Three taps. One hard word understood.

Kaya sits in your pocket and waits. When a patient speaks, a colleague hands over, or a doctor gives instructions — you pull it out and it's ready.

1

Tap and listen

Hit the mic when your patient starts speaking. Kaya hears dialect, whispered speech, and the ambient noise of a real care home. It doesn't mind if someone coughs or trails off.

2

See the meaning

Get it in your language in under a second. Medical terms like "Schenkelhalsfraktur" or "Blutdruck" are mapped alongside, so you learn the word the next time you hear it.

3

Reply back — in your voice

Speak in your own language, or type it. Kaya turns it into clear German for your patient — and if you train Kaya on your voice once, spoken replies come out sounding like you. No robot voice, no awkward intonation.

Why Kaya, not Google Translate

Built for the German your shift actually uses.

Google Translate knows the German you'd hear on holiday. Kaya knows the German your patients actually speak — the dialects, the mumbled words, the shorthand in a rushed handover, and the medical vocabulary your B1 course never got to.

Medical vocabulary built in

Over 2,000 care-specific German terms — Hüfte, Schenkelhalsfraktur, Atemnot, Dekubitus, Blutdruck, Kreislauf — mapped to the word you'd say in your own language.

Dialects and elderly voices

Bayerisch, Swabian, Plattdeutsch, Saxon — plus the quiet, slow, and sometimes searching speech of patients in their 80s and 90s. Kaya is trained on how they actually sound.

Your language, not just English

English, Tagalog, Hindi, Malayalam, Portuguese, Spanish, Polish, Romanian — more coming. Speak the language you think in. We translate to and from German.

Sounds like you

Train Kaya on a few minutes of your own voice, and your German replies come out in your accent and your warmth. Your patients hear you — not a robot reading a script.

Private by design

EU-hosted. GDPR-compliant for health data. No audio ever written to disk. Each patient's data stays strictly separate — what Frau Müller says never touches Herr Schmidt's record.

Learn as you work

Every translation shows you the medical term mapping — so the word you needed help with today is the word you'll know tomorrow. Your German grows with your shifts.

Questions, answered plainly

Things you might be wondering.

Is Kaya free for caregivers?+
Yes — always free for individual caregivers. We make our money from care providers and staffing agencies who want their teams to use Kaya. Caregivers never pay.
When will I get access?+
Early access opens in 2026 in small cohorts — we onboard carefully to get it right for each region. Earliest signups get earliest invites. You'll hear from us by email or phone within a few weeks of signing up.
Which languages do you support?+
On the patient side: German — including Bavarian, Swabian, Saxon, Plattdeutsch, and elderly/slow speech. On your side: English, Tagalog, Hindi, Malayalam, Portuguese, Spanish, Polish, and Romanian to start — more added based on the languages of our waitlist.
Can I use it in a care home that doesn't allow phones on shift?+
We're working with German care providers to build a version that lives on your employer's approved device — or, for solo workers, operates in a discreet, audit-ready way that satisfies care-home policies. Tell us about your situation when you sign up.
What happens to what my patients say?+
Voice is translated in memory and immediately forgotten. No audio is ever stored. The text of the translation can be saved to your own notes if you choose — nothing leaves the phone without your action.
Do I need an internet connection?+
Core translation works offline for short phrases. Longer handover notes and richer medical context use a lightweight connection — designed to work on the signal you actually get inside a care-home building.
